Momentum are:
Yorgos Karamalegos and Elinor Randle
Yorgos Karamalegos, Elinor Randle and Kate Cave met at Hope Street's Physical Theatre Programme in 2002. Together they formed Momentum in 2003 and created their first piece "Tmesis". Since 2005 Kate followed a different career and Momentum continued with the production of exciting physical theatre work.
The company's style is a strong expressive body language that combines the art of movement/dance with a comic/tragic style of acting which creates a style of theatre accessible to its audience even if the story is abstractly approached.
Momentum want to explore their artistic vision, break barriers, theatre clichés and produce new, exciting theatre performances.
Momentum aims to bring together some of the best directors/practitioners from the international physical theatre world in order to produce innovative, visually stunning, thought provoking, physical theatre work which is communicative, highly accessible and represents the cultural diversity and the experience of life.
The company has a commitment to widening access to physical theatre through its education and audience development.
Momentum have been supported by The Arts Council of England, The Princes Trust, the Unity Theatre (Liverpool), ACID, Hope Street Ltd, MSEI and they will work with Liverpool Culture Company through 2008.
